SMP GALLERYにてイラストレーター サイトウマサミツの初個展を開催します。
酷暑の中、個展前 サイトウさんは "真夏の夜の夢" 、昼も夜も、ギャラリーのある東京ミッドタウン館内外を散策、スケッチ、スケッチ、スケッ千、、、。夢の中でも描き続けているのだろうという妄想に駆られます。
「描きながら、ぼくが癒されている。」とサイトウさんは呟きます。
サイトウさんが描く、温もりのある人、鳥や自然、街の風景のスケッチ、そしてドローイングを展示販売します。
いつものスケッチブックから、サイトウさんが一枚一枚切り取ったスケッチの紙の端、風合をいかしてパネル、額装、また掛け軸に仕立てた作品が並びます。大判の手紡ぎ手織りカディコットンに描いた逸品のタペストリーが軽やかです。
ギャラリー壁面正面をロール紙に描いたドローイングを展示。今展のために描きあげた"鳥獣人街戯画「EMAKI- Netemo Sametemo」作品(4m × 70cm)はお好きなところを切り取って、パネルに仕立てでご購入いただけるビスポークスタイル！？

SMP GALLERY is pleased to present the first solo exhibition by illustrator Masamitsu Saito.
Amidst the sweltering heat, before the exhibition, Saito is like a “Midsummer Night's Dream”—day and night, wandering inside and outside Tokyo Midtown where the gallery is located, sketching, sketching, sketching... One can't help but imagine he continues drawing even in his dreams.
“I find healing while drawing,” Saito murmurs.
On display and for sale are Saitou's sketches and drawings: warm-hearted people, birds, nature, and cityscapes.
Works crafted from the edges of sketchbook pages—each carefully cut by Saito—are presented as panels, framed pieces, and hanging scrolls, showcasing their unique texture. Light and airy tapestries are exquisite pieces drawn on large-format hand-spun, hand-woven khadi cotton.
A drawing on roll paper will be displayed on the gallery's front wall. The piece created especially for this exhibition, the “Bird-Beast-Human-Town Playful Picture Scroll ‘EMAKI- Netemo Sametemo’” (4m × 70cm), offers a bespoke style! You can choose your favorite section, have it mounted on a panel, and purchase it!
