Namさん在廊中に取材の機会に恵まれました。少し緊張気味のNamさんでしたが、インタビュアー南部健人氏(アジアと芸術digitalの編集長&ライター)の作家の作品への想いを掘り下げる真摯な姿勢とお人柄、そしてNamさんの傍にパートナーのSylviaさんもご一緒で、終始和やかな時間となりました。
取材後「私自身も今後、他の写真作品を見る際に、ナムさんたちの視点が大いに生きてくることを確信しております。」

韓国伝統の手漉き紙 韓紙(HANJI)に作家自身がプリントする写真は紙の風合い、温かみと相まって絵画的な独自の
世界観が秀逸です。

Our current exhibition at SMP GALLERY, “Jonghyun Nam Photo Exhibition” (on view through Mar 9), has been featured in a special report:
“The Gaze of a Korean Photographer: Jonghyun Nam”

The interview took place while Nam was at the gallery. Though slightly nervous at first, the conversation unfolded warmly, thanks to Editor-in-Chief and writer Kento Nambu’s thoughtful questions and sincere engagement with the artist’s vision—joined by Nam’s wife and partner, Sylvia.
After the interview, Nambu remarked:
“I am certain that Nam’s perspective will continue to inform the way I view other photographic works in the future.”
A compelling and insightful exhibition review—well worth reading.
Photographs printed by the artist himself on traditional Korean handmade paper, Hanji, reveal a uniquely painterly world—enhanced by the paper’s delicate texture and warmth.
