This is the fourth exhibition for contemporary Nihonga (Japanese style painting) artist, Kentaro Hirano. Hirano captures and depicts the beauty in nature. We are drawn into the works by his own unique method, reflecting the undercurrent in the world of moving between reality and imagination.

Reality and imagination. Sensitive, yet free and easy. Serenity and uplifting.
The emotions are not expressed precisely by words. However, with his perseverance of ways and techniques of layering colors for his paintings, the artist challenges to depict the vast landscapes, water, wind, earth, and air. They reflect his true feelings which are purely beautiful.

"The harder this real world is, the more profoundly I feel there is something precious which we should not lose within the heart. Everybody does have it, yet doesn't feel what is vanishing in daily living. Even though I don't clearly find what it is, I just would like to evoke the undercurrent in people's minds through my paintings.
I'll do for rejuvenating and coming to myself in this time and age everything goes chaotic and crazy" - Kentaro Hirano

Born in Fukuoka in 1971. Graduated from Musashino Art University and majored in Nihonga of Art and Design in 2003. Currently Hirano lives and works in Tokyo, and has received good reviews in Japan and abroad such as Belgium and Brazil through numerous solo and group exhibitions.
